Rapper/singer/poet Elia is from New York but is currently residing in Chon Buri, Thailand, working on his first full-length album together with three producers, variously from Vietnam, N.Y. and Florida. He has been writing lyrics for a few popular Vietnamese pop stars and is available for record, publishing and management deals.
Elia has been rapping for 11 years and been singing for four, including classical operatic training as a “baritenor”, although his voice is classified as being between a Dramatic and Verdi Baritone with an exceptional range up to a high C. In contemporary terms, he possesses a powerful, steely, slightly raspy voice best suited to R&B and soul, and has received favourable comparisons to Luther Vandross.
Once he has established himself solidly as a rapper/lyricist and singer Elia has artistically ambitious plans to expand on his music by creating a new genre called “Theater Hop”, an advanced form of songwriting that mixes up rapping with other genres and uses advanced production techniques to create “audio movies” that are meant to exploit the listener’s emotions and imagination in a similar way to a book – albeit without the effort of reading and with the added bonus of ambiance and technology.
Elia takes his artistry very seriously and expects to be a chart topping rapper within the next few years, a chart-topping singer no more than two years after that, and through his creativity and ingenuity, foresees that Theater Hop, and variants of that genre, will become popular in about five years.
"It's rare to find a band as young as [Maroon 5] were who play drums and guitars but aren't a stereotypical rock band. My thought was their music was advanced for its time, but when the album came out it would be where music was going. Sure enough ..." Interview with Ben Berkman, EVP at A&M/Octone for Maroon 5
